When someone trusts us to transform their smile with dental veneers, that’s a big deal. We take that trust seriously, & we love seeing the results as much as they do. There’s one particular smile makeover though, that means more to me than any I’ve ever done. I’ll share the journey, but you’ll have to wait for the reveal to the end. Unless you cheat and scroll down to find out. 😀
We consider ALL of our Smile Makeovers to be incredibly important, whether with porcelain veneers, cosmetic dentures, crowns, or dental implants. If you want a beautiful new smile just like this, Give us a Call or Request an Appointment for a Complimentary Smile Consultation.
Adult Braces Before the Porcelain Dental Veneers
To be completely accurate, this person’s Smile Makeover started with Dr. Colin Webb. She needed some adult braces. While we do both Six Month Braces and Invisalign, he could fix her bite better than I could. What you see here, is where I started after he finished. This patient’s biggest concerns were:
- The front teeth were too short
- Her teeth had been worn flat on all the edges (she does wear a custom nightguard now to protect her smile)
- Her teeth were too yellow
- She wanted brilliant white teeth without having to whiten very frequently.
Hence, she wanted dental veneers! So here’s how her smile looked after braces and before her Smile Makeover. (If you’re wondering, I’ve written here about how many veneers you’d need.)
A Cosmetic Gum Lift to Lengthen Her Teeth
There’s only so much we can make teeth longer at the edge before interfering with speech, smiling, and chewing. Because the edges of her teeth already lined up nicely with her lip when smiling, we couldn’t lengthen them at the edges. That meant moving the gum levels with a procedure called crown-lengthening, aka a “gum lift.” A minor periodontal procedure, it involves gently lifting the gum from the teeth, reshaping the bone, then placing the gum back at the higher level. Voila – longer teeth! You can see the difference in length of her teeth pretty easily, compared to the first set of photos.
Dental Veneers for the Win!
We waited 3 months to let the gum levels stabilize, then I shaped the teeth for porcelain veneers, made molds of the teeth for the lab (now we use a 3Shape TRIOS intraoral scanner for speed, comfort, and accuracy), and put on temporary veneers. Three weeks later, we bonded in her final porcelain veneers. If I do say so myself, I think they look fabulous. 😀
So who was this patient, whose smile was so important to me? My wife, Fara!
